October is IRIS® Get Redesigned MonthSM

At the end of a busy day, wouldn’t you want to come home to a warm pleasing and wonderful space to hang your hat?
IRIS (Interior Redesign Industry Specialists), an international, non-profit organization of professional redesigners and stagers announces IRIS Get Redesigned MonthSM a national industry-wide event dedicated to raising awareness of the benefits of redesign and of hiring a professional redesigner.
What better time of the year than fall to prepare for more hours being spent indoors after a playful summer season outdoors, says Shelley Amato, member of IRIS and founder of Adorn Design Group.
IRIS members are professional interior redesigners trained in the practice of using what you already own to create a new warm and inviting environment. With almost 1,000 IRIS members ready and available to assist, it is easier to attain than most people think.
Whether it is your home or office, a professional redesigner can achieve the results of creating the sanctuary you’ve always desired.

IRIS is gearing up for Get Redesigned MonthSM with several industry partners and a nationwide radio campaign. IRIS members will redesign thousands of people’s homes during this month-long event.”

IRIS’s chapters and members will hold public events throughout the country during October and November.

Autumn is here. Why not add some fall colors to your decor
Decorating on a budget?

Here's 6 tips to giving your room a "wow" factor while keeping within a budget.

1. Decide on your budget ahead of time and stick with it.

2.Decide on one room at a time and layout your vision. Whether it's furniture placement or a new color arrangement designate a priority within that room.

3.Include a plan, color scheme, style and atmosphere in your vision. Have a target date already set, this will ensure the completion of the job if your date is written down and followed.

4.Measure your room to scale. Show windows and doors. Decide on a focal point and use an inspirational piece either from furniture or fabric or perhaps a favorite print or piece of art.

5.Paint and wallpaper go a long way in updating and refreshing a room.

6.View all selected colors and patterns in your home both during the daylight and at night. Keep in mind color schemes change with the natural light.

OVARIAN CANCER SURVIVORS RECEIVE “HAVEN FOR HEALING” FROM EXPERT REDESIGNERS TO POSITIVELY ENHANCE THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

-- National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) and the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists (IRIS) Work Together to Create Healing Environments for Survivors Nationwide --

Naperville, Illinois, March 24, 2009 – IRIS ® has partnered with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) to “Break the Silence” about ovarian cancer with public awareness and education. To ensure that women currently in treatment for ovarian cancer have a comfortable and harmonious room in their home in which to focus on rest and wellness, interior redesigners and home stagers across the US are volunteering their time, talents and skills to create such "havens".
“We are pleased to help bring this service to cancer survivors across the country,” said Shelley Amato of Adorn Design, a local redesigner in Naperville, Ilinois. “Environment has such a great impact on psyche and it’s an important, but often forgotten, aspect of the healing process. We are lending our expertise and services to women coping with ovarian cancer by creating a healing environment they can enjoy in their own homes.”
The “havens for healing” program includes a complimentary consultation with a re-design specialist, as well as furniture placement, the re-hanging of art and accessorizing with existing possessions. Emphasis is on transforming a room into a healing environment that is balanced, harmonious and individualized to each woman’s preferences.
“The health community continues to advance the understanding of the wellness benefits of a healing environment. Research indicates that a beautiful environment inspires us towards healing. In addition, an improved quality of day-to-day life created by enhancing our surroundings contributes favorably to overall health and recovery,” said Sandy Dixon, Executive Director of IRIS®. “We are honored to be working with NOCC to make a positive impact on the lives of these amazing women.”
If you are, or know of, a woman undergoing treatment, contact Shelley Amato 630-800-5720 for details.

Traditional Kitchen?

Do you have a Traditional style in your kitchen? Just add decorative accessories for a new update!

Decorative accessories are critical in pulling together a traditional style. Even if you can’t change anything in your kitchen, you can get a whole new look by adding the right accessories.
Concentrate on buying dishware, canisters and tablecloths in plaid (a fabric woven in a tartan or checked pattern) or a striped style that is complimentary to your wall colors. You’ll be pleased at how the colors pop out and how simple and inexpensive it can be.
Include plenty of bronze combined with antiques while adding sterling can make your kitchen look like it was done by an interior designer.
Miss match the kitchen table and chairs. To really enhance your traditional design theme, pair white legs with sea grass high back wing chairs.
Designing a fabulous traditional look in your kitchen can be as simple as just buying new decorative accessories.
Work on the small details!!

If your interested in having a room in your home redesigned, HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. Contact a designer in your area for an initial consultation and to schedule the actual redesign. On your first visit with the designer, you will be asked a variety of questions to get to know you and your personal style. For example, perhaps you have a painting that was purchased overseas and has special meaning to you but it's hidden in the corner behind the front door. That painting may just become the designers inspiration and heart of the room.
Typically redesigns are accomplished in a single day. Literally everything is taken out of the room and then reintroduced into the most desirable location, taking care to see how the decor interacts with the surrounding space. The fun really begins when you come back into the room and see that painting shinning as the focal point! As seen on HGTV.
A single room can be redesigned for as little as $400.00. For less then what you would spend to re-upholster a chair, you get a whole new look for your room. Good Luck!!
